Are some traction pads better than others? What should I look for in one? Whats your preference? Whats with the different kinds of center arches and tail kicks? What are the best center arches / tail kicks?

Basically all traction pads feel the same to me when i'm out surfing. For the most part all the pads have the same grip to them its just some have square ridges, some have diagonal ridges, ect. I use creatures of leisure Clay Marzo traction pad because i like the design of it. That's what i comes down to is the design that you like.
Good luck and keep surfing!

well traction pads really dont matter to me. i usually go to the surfshop when i need a new one and ask the guys there whats the best one that they have in stock and they will give it to me and i buy it. thats all there is to it. some surfers prefer a different brand of pads because they say it has better grip but out of all the pads that i have tried, they all feel the same to me. but thats just me. other surfers have different opinions so i would just try different ones and see which one i like better. hope this helps.

Haha, i'm accustomed to burning nipples rubbed uncooked from the 1st time you surf without a wetsuit in a together as. i've got considered one guy with a board like that, and he replaced into doing various airs, so possibly that had something to do with it. for my area, i think of it may be annoying on my ft, besides as mendacity down. i do no longer continuously use a stomp pad the two, a number of my boards have wax on the tail as a replace. If it works for you, do it, yet i think of it may do extra harm than help. I hate saying this, yet look at any professional surfer and notice if their board is like that. i think of it may be somewhat an impediment between me and the board, and get rid of somewhat administration and feeling together as i'm driving.

No not really. Just find one that you like and fits good on your board. It's really all about what you like
