can i learn to surf by myself?

hi,i am going to either cornwall or scilly and want to try surfing.i would prefer to learn by myself rather than have somebody teach me.so my question is can i loan out some equipment and go surfing or do i have to pay eveytime i go surfing?

No surf on Scilly at all.

Look at common surfing spots like Newquay,Sennen,Gwithian/Godrevy and Praa Sands and you will find a mix of surfboard hire or tuition up to you.

Could do a day of tuition and then off you go....

Yeah you can teach yourself, but i think it would be more fun to learn with a friend who can't surf either.

Just sayin.
